Market Recap

XAUUSD
XAUUSD traded within a 60.09-point intraday range on 24 July, equivalent to 1.48% of the open. The session began at 4050.17 and first moved lower, establishing the day’s trough at 4022.05 at 08:57, before reversing higher into the evening and printing the peak at 4082.14 at 18:20. It settled at 4052.83, up 2.66 on the day, a gain of 0.07%. The close sat near the middle of the session’s high–low span, roughly equidistant from the extremes after the late high was followed by a modest pullback into the finish. Price action remained above the 4000 handle throughout, with the intraday low forming in the 4020 area, while the high left the market inside the 4080s and closer to the 4100 handle; by the close, the nearest 100-handle was 4100. The sequence showed initial weakness after the open, a recovery that accelerated into the US afternoon, and a late-session peak before easing into the bell. On the higher time frame, daily momentum readings showed RSI(14) at 41.5, and the daily MACD signal line at -60.79. The day therefore closed slightly higher versus the open with a mid-range finish after testing the lower 4020s in the morning and the upper 4080s in the evening, leaving the instrument confined between the 4000 and 4100 round figures over the course of the session.

EURUSD
EURUSD traded a 0.00361 range on 2026-07-24, reaching a session high of 1.14004 at 10:31 and a low of 1.13643 at 16:10, before settling at 1.13701. The close was 0.00029 below the open of 1.1373, a move of -0.025%, and sat near the lower portion of the day’s span, around 6 pips above the low and below the intraday midpoint. Price action briefly printed the 1.14 figure in the morning and then eased back through the middle of the range into the afternoon trough, while remaining above the 1.13 handle throughout. On a volatility gauge, the day’s movement equated to 73.8% of the current daily ATR. The close and intraday high both remained beneath the 21-day EMA at 1.14236, and the session stayed under the 10-day high at 1.14817. Into the finish, EURUSD was little changed from the open in absolute terms but positioned toward the lower end of the session’s distribution, indicating the day concluded without reclaiming the earlier break toward 1.14. From a higher-timeframe perspective, the market remains below the referenced moving average and below the recent multi-day peak, with Friday’s test of the 1.14 round level failing to sustain above it by the close. No tick volume data were available, and no additional indicators were flagged for RSI, MACD, or Bollinger levels.

USDJPY
USDJPY traded in a 0.29 range (0.18% of open) on 24 Jul, posting an early high at 163.93 at 03:53 and a late-session low at 163.63 at 18:15. It opened at 163.82 and finished at 163.84, up 0.02 (+0.012%), closing in the upper half of the day’s span and near unchanged from the open. From the open, the market advanced 0.11 to the session peak, then slipped 0.19 from the open to the trough before firming into the close. The settlement was 0.09 below the high and 0.21 above the low, leaving it closer to the top of the range. The high remained below 164.00 throughout, while the low stayed well above the 160.00 handle. The intraday range midpoint was near 163.78, aligning with the H1 20‑period simple moving average at 163.78; the close at 163.84 sat just above that level. On the higher timeframes, spot remained above the D1 50‑day simple moving average at 161.07. The D1 MACD signal read 0.58 and the H4 MACD printed 0.33. The session’s structure featured a single early high in Asian hours, a trough set in the US afternoon, and a finish in the upper portion of the day’s distribution without a test of round‑number resistance at 164.00. No multi‑day extremes were registered, and activity was contained within 163.63–163.93 by the close at 23:56.

Economic Calendar Recap & Preview

Japanese inflation set the tone: CPI excluding food and energy rose 1.7 percent year over year, matching the 1.7 percent forecast but easing from 1.8 previously, while core CPI accelerated to 1.6 percent year over year, beating the 1.2 percent forecast and up from 1.4 prior (both at 02:30 server time). No major economic data are scheduled in the next 24 hours, and there are no releases on the calendar to flag with server-time timestamps, leaving the immediate outlook data-light.
